More needlefelting. I am new to it and have a hard time thinking up projects, but it is my friend Linda's birthday tomorrow and we like to make each other little handmade gifts. I sat down tonight and started pulling waste pieces of thread out of my trash can and laying them on a wool background. Then I added some yarns and fibers and wool roving. Seemed like it should have a message so I took some fabric paper that I had already created and cut some words out about friends. I sure dont need Linda to know I was taking materials out of the trash. I am not sure how she would feel about that!!

The little bag was my first hand needlefelted project. I found an old plum colored sweater at the thrift shop and felted it, cut a couple little squares and needlefelted the flower on the front. It was a learning experience that I throughly enjoyed. I had issues with the construction stitching showing so I grabbed some fibers and couched on the seam to hide the problems!! Just another happy accident. The little plaque is polymer clay...that is such a fun creative medium. I got the base plaque at the thrift shop also....you know the ones that have a sappy verse about grandma or about being a friend forever??? I conditioned the clay and rolled out about 1/4 inch thick and cut to all sizes. Used some pigment powders and deep cut stamps to texture and punch different colors and baked. Transferred a photo of some friends onto one tile and arranged and attached to the base. Add some glitter glue as grout and embellished with buttons and a key. Makes a great engagement present, dont you think?

I CANT STOP

These were made last year. I really enjoyed the exploration of some of the stitches and embroidery options on the Bernina I purchased for myself for my 50th birthday. I never know what I am going to do until I sit down and start pulling things together. My fabrics are cast off linings from wool jackets after I use the wool for rug hooking or applique.
